I found couple videos about a Shelby GT500 with tune and air intake(600 hp at crank and speed limit was removed) racing a stock Mercedes E55 AMG and BMW M5(570hp). At the beginning of the race the GT500 got ahead and was widening the gap as all three cars were accelerating but when the driver put the car into 5th gear at about 130mph it was game over for the Shelby. It lost to a stock stock 480hp Mercedes E55 AMG and 570 hp BMW M5 that has less torque than Camaro ss by more than 3 cars in a one mile drag race... Later I found out the Shelby has two overdrive gears for fuel economy, why in world would a 500hp car have two gears for fuel economy? the 5th and 6th are not performance gear, the last thing I care about is MPG when I buy a car with 500 hp, is there a way to change the gear ratios of a manual transmission? and if there is how much is it going to cost? Just want to know. Appreciate it

I don't understand what you want to do with the car. Most people only care about 1/4 stints. If you're tracking the car with straights that are over 1 mile long, then that's a different story.

How fast do you think you would top out with a stock 2010 GT500 at the end of a mile? It surely will be over 130mph so for street purposes, it's a moot point.

I run mine in the standing mile in Nebraska-it runs 142 mph-stock gears & tires-need roll bar to run mile-what was your speed at the mile.sorry went back and reread not your car-

Ever have a car with 4:10 gears and a 4 speed? It's like riding in a blender at highway speeds. These cars (as well as the others mentioned) are geared to be as at home on the street as they are on the track. Nothing's worse than having a really hot car and not be able to stand driving it around town........
