It's about time to change Good Year eagle f1 tires on my car, I found this page I thought I share it, and what is your favorite performance tire? http://www.caranddri...omparison_tests

Performance tire test(Michelin Pilot Sport 2 being the benchmark), this was the final result:

Tires and final result:
Ninth: Ling Long L688
Eighth: Nitto INVO
Seventh: Falken Azenis RT-615
Sixth: Yokohama S.Drive
Fifth: BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW
Fourth: Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport
Third: Kumho Ecsta XS
Second: Hankook Ventus V12 Evo
First: Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec

-In auto cross(dry):
Dunlop: 59.3 seconds
Falken: 59.8
Handkook: 59.8
Michelin PS2: 60.1
Nitto INVO: 60.5

-Braking test(dry):
BFgoodrich: 79.9 feet
Dunlop: 80.3
Handkook: 81.1
Michelin PS2: 81.9
Falken: 85.3
Nitto INVO: 86.9

-In auto cross(wet):
Michelin PS2: 60.7 seconds
Dunlop: 60.8
Handkook: 61.0
Nitto INVO: 61.9
Falken: 64.2
Kumho: 65.4

-Braking test(wet):
Handkook: 85.1 feet
Dunlop: 85.6
Michelin PS2: 87.0
Nitto INVO: 91.2
Falken: 98.0

-Skidpad (dry)
Kumho: 0.94g
Handkook: 0.93
Dunlop: 0.92
Michelin : 0.92
Falken: 0.91
Nitto INVO: 0.91

-Skidpad (wet)
Michelin PS2: 0.88g
Handkook: 0.87
Dunlop: 0.86
Nitto INVO: 0.82
Kumho: 0.80
Falken: 0.80

-Sound level, 50 mph:
BFgoodrich: 61 dBA
Handkook: 61
Falken: 62
Kumho: 62
Michelin PS2: 62
Nitto INVO: 62
Dunlop: 63

-Tread Wear rating(the bigger the number the longer the life of the tire, this rating compares a tire's wear with that of a reference tire. For example, 340 rating estimates tire life at 3.4 times that of the reference tire, which scores 100):
BFgoodrich: 300
Handkook: 280
Michelin PS2: 220
Nitto INVO: 260
Falken: 200
Dunlop: 200
Kumho: 180

-Speed Rating("W" Means 168 mph and "Y" mean 186 mph):
Handkook: Y
Michelin PS2: Y
BFgoodrich: Y
Dunlop: W
Nitto INVO: W
Falken: W
Kumho: W
Bridgestone: W

I think the best tire is Hankook Ventus V12 Evo, it beated Michelin in all tests except on the wet skid pad(0.87g handkook vs 0.88g ps2), it's nearly half the price of Michelin PS2 and has a higher tread wear rating. Nitto was one of the worst, I have seen a lot of guys have Nitto INVO on their Shelbys in this forum, (the Nitto I'm talking about is not Nitto N555, it's Nitto INVO). Hankook Ventus V12 Evo is the right one for me :happy feet:

I think we need someone to take a punt at the Dunlops! I was pretty much sold on the PS2 or Nitto 555's but am considering the Dunlop now for the price! Thanks for the post--it would have been good to see how the F1's compare as that is what we started with... Regards, Dan

Add the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2. It is different and better by far than the regular PS2.

Edit: My bad. The Michelin Pilot Sport is a differnet tire than the Pilot Sport PS2. I have the PS2's on my GT500. They are great.

Dunlops are great, but the only problem is they don't last as long as the others

Dunlop was very good in all the tests, but it has few problems. First, the tread wear rating is not good. 2nd, the speed rating was lower "W". 3rd, the load rating wasn't as good as most tires.

Hope this helped

Good research!! However, your post is a little deceptive in that you indicate you've found the best ALL SEASON tire. Those tires are predominently designated "summer tires". I did considerable research last fall (search my posts) for an ALL SEASON tire that I could drive during the colder, clear days of winter and not risk killing myself. There were no All Season tires available for the rear 285/40 18. The closest I could find was the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S plus in a 275/40 18. There is a 285/35/18 but didn't want to deal with too big a change in tire size. Michelin made a direct replacement Pilot sport for the front, so I bought four, getting the 275s for the rear. They are maybe 1" less wide than the stock 285's but hook up wonderfully, regardless of the cold temps here in Md. I drive them year round and now when temps are in forties I can kick it in second gear without it breaking lose. I believe the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S is the best ALL SEASON tire available for our cars (closest to stock).

You right, they are all summer tires, but still I'm pretty darn sure some of them are better than the stock Good Year eagle F1 tires that aren't really good in summer and they easily break lose in winter. I'm not going to take it out in winter many times, so Handkook is good enough for the job. :)

It's Michelin Pilost Sport PS2, it's the stock tire on Corvette ZR1, Viper, BMW M5, Cadillac CTS-V and .... That's why they used it as a benchmark here.

To bad they do not offer our rear tire size. No 305's either!

The Goodyears are pretty good, but mine would break lose even on the warmest days. If you check your driver's side door sill, there is a warning sticker about driving the Goodyears at temps less than 40 degrees. Summer tire rubber compounds get hard in cool temps, therefore giving poor adhesion and traction. I'm sure there are a number of summer use only tires that are superior to the Goodyears. The Michelins I chose were superior to the Goodyears (especially wet traction) in both summer and winter tempratures. Didn't want to park the car for five or six months because the tires were too dangerous to use, so this was a perfect alternative and gives me my year round Shelby fix when I need it. Needless to say, she stays in the garage when the snow is on the ground.

what size Michelin PS2 is everyone running? I don't see it in our stock sizes. Closest Michelin I see is the Michelin Pilot Sport. I'm really leaning towards the BF Goodrich KDW2's.

I have Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's on my Porsche and Nitto 555r on my GT500, both offer excellent grip for their applications.

I also bought the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus. I got four 275/40-18 tires. They are great. The reduction in tire noise and increase in traction is outstanding.
They have a 45,000 mile tread life.
The 275/40 fits the front, it still fits inside the fender just fine.
The Service advisor recommended not to reprogram the computer, that the mph would only be slightly off.
I checked the speedometer with my GPS and car was going 1-2 mph faster than the speedometer so I will leave it alone.
A Ford engineer at the 45th Mustang celebration at Birmingham AL. also recommended to just leave the speedometer calibration alone.

Glad to see another fellow GT500 owner switch to the MPS A/S plus. It is a great all season tire and big improvement over stock. I too did not fool with the slight speedo error as it is negligible. Great tires for the cold weather/clear day drives during the winter. Glad you're enjoying them!

I have the GT 500 rims and put the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S on. I really like them but they will spin especially if inflated at or over 30 psi. The wet traction, however, is fantastic as is tread wear and NVH. BTW the Goodrich tires are made by Michelin (actually Michelin Small Tires America).

Edit: sorry I forgot but I'm running the 255/45/ZR18 size. This size is supposed to fit smaller (width) rims and the sidewalls DO NOT bulge out at all past the rims on the stock GT 500 rims. I think you could go for a little wider tire but this is the one Michelin recommends for our rims.

Since you've got summer tires on that list, why not comp tires? I'm running Toyo RA1s, which they use in American Iron series. They use them unshaved in the wet. Absolutely stunning performance. I can plant it in 2nd without spinning finally. The F1 Supercars are utterly shit by comparison. Shit shit shit. And I only have about 500rwhp.

I tried the Goodyear Eagle F1 All-Season tires on my Porsche and have had great luck with them. As far as rain and cold weather, they stick like glue...and are still very firm and grippy on the hottest of summer days. Have not experienced any snow with them yet.

They do have a very stiff ride, yet seem to be fairly quiet on the highway. They do run a little wider than the others. I have a 275/35-18 on the back of the car and it is a bit tight, as compared to friends with Yoko's and Kuhmos.

They are hard to find.
