I'm getting 9.6 miles a gallon with 275 miles on the clock. The gas gauge moves like the minute hand on a clock and im a lil upset...
Sticker says 14 city......will my gas milage imrpove? Can anyone jump in and let me know......I also heard if you chip the car with SCT tuner , they generally improve MPG by about 2MPG..........

Can we start a post on what everyone in here gets as an average MPG?

don't know about the 10, but my 09 gets 16.7 city and 19.9 hwy with cai, pulley and tune. I could get 9.6 if I tried!!!! But tires would become more of an issue than fuel.

About 12.5 but have been trying to get it lower. About 2,000 miles on the odometer.

Check for a leak, :headscratch: I'm being sarcastic, that's crazy. I get approx. 14 in city and on the freeway 22-26. Reset your trip meter, and don't forget to upshift. I don't beat my car at all but sometimes drive a little spirited and have never seen numbers like that.

Have you manually calculated the mileage?

Yes - check your mileage by hand - don't trust the onboard display.

I think we can all get roughly 20mpg hwy if we stay off the blower. I still do with 730rwhp from the 2.9 Whipple and all the other mods. Though I can get as low as 3mpg on the track with a heavy foot.

Wow, that's double my mileage! :hysterical: I got 4.6 mpg on my last tank of gas........... :headscratch: :lurk:

Okay, it was at the track :shift:

Seriously, this sounds like a new problem with the 2010's. I hadn't read of any similar issues on the older cars. Just the gas pump cutting off too early when fueling. Sometimes turning the pump handle upside down fixes that.

But the gas gauges never read incorrectly and 9.6 mpg should not be happening.

Read this thread titled Ran Out of Gas. It sounds like it might be similar and a few others have mentioned the same problem.

Question, Do the 2010's have the "capless" filler or is that coming on the '11's? If so that would be where I would start looking.............

I get approx 20mpg and I have about 10500 on mine. I drive it daily and a lot is on the interstate but when I jump on it, It will start to go down if I do it a lot.

I get about 10-11 mpg. About 1,800 miles total. Mostly city milage. I drive it relatively hard. I'm addicted to that S/C whine.

yes, its a capless fuel filler....my guess is that ford may have programmed 2010's to run richer in order to futher protect engine...

LOL! i found this on the web!

"The latest 2010 Shelby GT500 receives an extra 40 horses and 30 ft-lb of torque above the retiring model and it will come with more efficient fuel consumption.

Tests show that the new 2010 Shelby GT500 enhances 2 mpg in highway driving in contrast to the preceding version, with fuel consumption rated at 14 mpg city and 22 mpg highway. The chief cause for these improvements is modifications to the top gears, which were made taller. Performance numbers of the 2010 Shelby GT500 were boosted by enhancements to the calibration of the supercharged and intercooled 5.4-liter DOHC V8 powerplant and refinements to the cold-air intake system. Featured in the engine calibration is a dual-knock sensor system instead of just one thereby enhancing engine efficiency further by more efficient use of fuel supplied"

if thats true i wonder what the 2005-2009 GT500's got! hOLY %$#$@#!@

Did you reset the avg MPG since you took ownership of the vehicle? Could have spent some considerable time idling before you bought it, etc. I get 14MPG in heavy city driving. Just shift when the indicator light flashes and you should get the same. I still have some fun occasionally ripping it up...but not constantly...been at 14MPG since I've had the car.

My first tank was also just under 10mpg. I must admit I have been putting the pedal to the metal. I predict that you must totally baby it to get the 14mpg, or drive a lot of highway miles.

Again - ignore the display. Calculate by hand, then report back.

i was told that using an SCT tuner with a Lund tune leans up fuel ratio therefore making mpg go up and also adds 40-50 hp...can anyone confirm MPG and power claims....
