Here is my Dyno results from awhile ago.
Posted Image

I have posted this before on some other forums and some have said it looks very lean (2nd) run. Well I called John Lund (it's a Lund tune) and he asked if it was a tailpipe sniffing dyno (which it was) and if it was it was probably ok. I have never known Lunds tunes to be lean. I felt assured with the answer but now I'm starting to second guess myself.

Can anyone tell what they think?

If it is too lean can I adjust it myself through the SCT?

Thanks everyone for your input.

Well Chris didn't seem too worried, however, he did tell me to call John Lund just in case.

I'll shoot you a PM about this weekend!! I need to see that KR!

Jay,

I'm gonna say that the tune is probably spot on and that the tail pipe sniffer is to blame for the high A/F reading. I'd leave the tune the way it is and don't mess with it.

+1

I'm about 1-1.25 higher/leaner on a sniffer than when hooked to the pre-cat bung. Mine would look just about like yours.

I had the same thing happen this weekend w/ my Lund tune and a tail pipe sniffer. My first run read in the 13's for a/f, but I have never experienced any detonation. So I added 6% and the 2nd run read right at 11.5 @ WOT. But on the way home from the dyno my LC-1 was reading low 10's for the A/F again @ WOT. :censored:

I'm going to datalog on the street and log my LC-1 w/ the SCT software and see what that tells me. Then I'll send everything to Jon and let him sort it out.

You cant get a true A/F thru tail pipe sniffer,it must be taken pre cat. We have a bung welded in before cars are tuned. My advice to you is dont touch jons tunes.

Chris this is Jude, Bring your black shelby out saturday to meet my new black shelby! if you are going to upgrade to a bigger blower I will buy your tvs. You made 612whp with your tvs? Stock tvs pulley or did you upgrade it? I thought you made 640whp for some reason. I would love to run your car to see how it stacks up. Trying to get one of the three 725hp super snakes I know to come out and race me this weekend too. Love to run a tvs shelby and a 2.8kb car in the same day I run a zr1!

When it comes to measuring a/f, I will say this...

When it comes to tailpipe sniffers, if the sensor is old, or the vacuum sniffer box has leaks that introduce ambient air into the stream, there can be errors.

When done right, tailpipe sniffing works, I have dual widebands on my dyno, I can take readings before the cat, and at the tailpipe, and only see a slightly delay and maybe .1 difference. But you don't know if its being done with good equipment.

Jon is an excellent tuner, but we have to do a reality check here. You can't get so caught up in something that you ignore the data right in front of you. Until you rule out that the car is lean by other means, IE calibrating the wideband, or installing the wideband directly into an exhaust bung, YOU SHOULD NOT DISMISS IT.

I can't tell you how Jon does it, but I can tell you I average my tunes over hundreds of cars to come up with what is an extremely close tune. But once again the catch is you can't take into account variations in installations or fuel if you have never seen the car in person before. We now have some degree of ethanol in most of the US, but the catch is it can be anywhere from 0% to 10%, how much are they adding into your fuel? I can tell you the difference between 0% and 10% is .4-.5 a/f on the wideband.

Justin,
Very valid points. In New Mexico we run 10% ethanol (I think) at most stations. Plus the highest octane we get is 91, however, we are around 5000-5500 above sea level.

To make a long story short. I spent a lot of time with John Lund over the phone, which I really appreciated, and we concluded it's ok. I have not heard or seen any signs of any denotation.

Thanks again
Jay :dog: <-- love that emoticon!!

Jay the baseline you show on the dyno what did you have done? Was this a pre and post header dyno? You coming out to car meet this weekend? We missed you at the races a few weeks back! I was the only ford running. We rented Sandia last weekend and were running laps.
