I finally popped one of my new VMP TVS blowers onto my personal 2007 Red/Silver GT500 and got it on my Dynojet 224xLC. I wanted to swap on a new 15% OD Innovators West lower but did not have time.

My car has a VMP TVS with 2.5" upper, CNC port matched VMP high-flow inlet elbow, VMP 72 TB, 123mm maf, 80lb injectors, 1 7/8 Dynatech LTs, and comp stage 2 cams. Bottom end and heads are stock. I'm running C16 but only going to 24deg on the timing.

We're having some coolish Florida weather this week but nothing like the 50* days from a few weeks ago.

I was expecting over 800, just not this far over 800.

The little 2.3L TVS keeps on going and going to 6500RPM with no sign of HP or boost drop off. My car is down 2-3psi at high RPM due to the cams, you can see it peaks around 21psi in the mid range and drops off to 18psi up top. I'm not making all this power with brute force and boost like some of the big blowers, but rather airflow and efficiency. When we did the cam swap for the December issue of MM&FF the car picked up around 40rwhp peak when compared to similar conditions. I would expect a car with the VMP TVS and similar mods to mine (lower, TB, LTs, race gas) except the cams to still make high side of 700RWHP.

This graph shows downstream air temp during a loaded dyno pull, there is not more than a 10deg spread.

Posted Image

I can't wait to install the 15% OD lower.

I ran the FRPP TVS for 3 years before having my own TVS manufactured. I'm mainly showing the below graph to demonstrate that the TVS keeps on going when pullied for more more boost (VMP TVS exclusively has 2.5 pulley, FRPP TVS is limited to a 2.6 pulley). The main point is the shape of the graph (it's higher at all points, even above 6k), not necessarily the difference since the FRPP TVS run was done back in the summer when it was very hot.

That is simply unbelievable. WOW!

Great job Justin.

Thank you for sharing..

I have one of Justin's tune with a very similar setup. However, I have a vert and I am really limited on the RWHP .... approx 675, due to the
structural integrity and support (lack of) in comparison to a coupe.

He is the KING of the TVS.

Wow, nice numbers. Now you need to run it at a track. See what the MPH is at in the 1/4 mile. Last time you said you were making 750 HP. and you ran 130 to 131 MPH. That's the same or less then some guys with Eaton's. I've seen some Eaton's run 135 MPH in the 1/4 mile. Your car is making nice Dyno numbers. Get it out and run it. I'd really like to see some big MPH numbers. It might be time to trade my blower off. You do have cams if i remember right . So I would need cams also, Right ? What stage cams, or are they GT cams ? Did you install complete cam kits or just the cams ? The TVS blowers don't seem to MPH very good. The best I've seen has been like 132 MPH if I remembered correctly. Be careful of the wife's new 5.0. Because it seems to be running really good with that Whipple. You don't wont to get beat by the wife. LOL ...With 800 HP you should be able to run 143 to 145 MPH in the 1/4 mile. With a low 10 second E.T. That's if the car weighs 4000 LB's with you in it. Its probably a little lighter then that. So maybe 146..... :salute:

Holy Chit!

I'm assuming you're running an IW 10% O/D balancer?

With your set-up minus the cams, what do you think would be the minimum octane rating required?

What do you think the cams are worth, hp wise?

UPR went 136 in street trim including pump gas about a year and a half ago(In the florida heat)

Plenty have been over 140 already I know of and I know at least 4 already which broke the 800rwhp mark including a few with pump gas.(3 I did myself)

With a few things done correctly to the TVS its hard to find a better blower specially one that fits under the hood without modding anything to make it fit.

Yes other blowers can make more power but boost for boost airflow to airflow(CFM) none will beat the TVS power output unless you go with a centrifugal blower or turbo(the TVS design is a pretty efficient blower )

If someone can make 600 plus with a stock Eaton why wouldn't this power be possible with a TVS Eaton? (which is larger in displacement with a superior rotor design over the stock eaton).

Also not doubting that someone cant go 135 with a modded Eaton, but not to likely in street trim will they go that fast. (Skinny slicks weight reduction peferect weather etc yes I can see it) .

A tvs done correctly can , has and is capable of going 140 plus

Cams are worth 20-80hp on these cars with TVS setups depending on the cams used.(At least what I seen already testing a few different ones)

Wow Justin.

Absolutely fabulous numbers from a TVS. All your hard work is paying off BIG TIME. I always figured my replacement blower would be a Whipple but not any more. I may never get to 800 but if it can go that far.....Well. Its all the blower I'll need on the street.

Truly amazing numbers and very good curves with lots of torque at lower RPMs.

Did anyone tech Ted's car ? JTBH its really hard to believe one guy in the USA and Can is faster with every blower he's ever run. Stock blowers, aftermarket blowers, then everyone else. Cheating is as old as racing. He's not even in the US. If he is really that fast. Then he should call the mags and make it official. Its as easy as a 100 shot.

Ive tested many blowers at the 1/4 mile.. Mostly Eatons. Its easy to ice it on top, around, and inside to get a good time. But if you drive your car to the track with a over spun Eaton. Then its pumping out 350 degree air by the time you get to a track. Enough to fry eggs on your blower. Once your over about 18 LB's then they really start producing extremely hot air. Keene bell did some testing and the TVS was producing 350 degrees at 18.000 RPM's. The nose of this blower wasn't designed to be pushed this hard. So yes anything is possible. But at the end of the day. Its still just an over spun Eaton. Tell them to try this out. Run across town. 30 to 40 mile trip. Then run a 1/4 mile. Let me guess. 131 MPH in the 1/4 mile. Which works out to be 650 HP. Because the PCM pulled timing to stop you from blowing an engine. At 800 you runing on the ragged edge. Not something you want when its your everyday driver. Race car yea it'll work. But if your racing. Get a twin screw.

134 mph with my TVS. Since most NHRA tracks treat you as a 9.99 car(safety equipment wise) when you go 135 or faster, it is the sweet spot IMO. Twin screw is a better design for max power, but the toque of the TVS and the fact it fits properly make it a good choice for all but the most hardcore racers.

:salute:

http://www.competiti...el.com/Phil/bg/

The car went 133mph on a warm day back in april/may at Moroso with stock cams and pump gas tune with a little torco (about 20-22* of timing), probably making low 700s. So I should be in the high 130s/low 140s now with good weather, not to mention drag wheels should lighten it up a decent amount compared to the stock 18s with DRs i was running before. It actually weighs closer to 4100lb with me in it. The stock eaton cars that run close to mid 130s are being run on 50-60* nights and have 4.10 gears and full drag wheels. I watch the SAE correction factors on the dyno, and there is a swing of 5-7% from the warmest summer day to a cold night, which adds up to 50rwhp at this level.

Wife's car actually has a TVS too.

My cams have higher lift so the springs were replaced as well.

I've tested outlet temps on the TVS and screws, and the screws make just as much heat. KB can quote how hot the TVS is, but I have not seen them quote their own blower. We're putting some blowers on an SAE spec blower test stand in MI.

The SCJ had to go with a 4.0L due to heat, Ford engineers weren't happy with the 3.4L's heat output at the end of the run.

Air gets hotter when you compress it, no matter what you compress it with. That is why my setup/car focuses on airflow and not necessarily boost. I am only running 18psi up top with the cams.

I'm not trying to start a screw compressor debate, just stating the facts about the data I've collected and what I have learned over the years.

BTW, this is a milder setup but still running TVS technology. At the 2010 bowling green NMRA race my wife ran her 5.0 back to back in true street with the hood down, MPH repeated as well as ET. This class requires a 30 mile cruise and then 3 runs without opening the hood.

Well I'll tell yea what we can do. Is I'll drive my car over to your track. With my stock blower, stock heads, stock bottom end and race you. With your cams, 800 HP TVS, stock lower pulley. No one can run meth or nitrous. Fats and skinnies are OK. No removing any interior parts or any BS like that. For how ever much money you want. If you don't want money involved. That's OK but i would prefer to race for at least 550. What you charged me for a tune that i had to pay someone to replace and that's being real nice about it. How's next wednesday. Isn't that a test & tune day at your track ? Then we wont have any ifs ands or buts about what your car will run. We can also run 3 back to back runs and see how well the TVS technology does. I'm ready any time you are. I'm calling you out !!!! " Lets get it on" UFC style HAHAHA....Your not afraid of an OLD MAN are you ? I'm going to put a Randy ground and pound on your young A@@...... :slapfight: :hysterical:

Actually, YOU called ME out ......3 years ago on youtube:

Notice I then challenged YOU to come to MY track, for $5000... You never responded. :hysterical3:

You then called out Ted Lewchuk saying he is "cheating" or spraying 100 shot in order to run 140mph with a TVS.

Now you call out Justin. I am sick and tired of you talking smack about good people on these forums.

By the way, I don't race for consistency or bracket race. I will race you heads up, pro tree, whoever gets to the end first wins. You know, a real race. :shift:

Let's take it to PM's if you want to get this on. I will gladly take your money. You're right, it's put up or shut up! :talkhand:

Playing Devils Advocate, you made a pretty big accusation about Ted being a cheat with zero to back it up. That's a pretty weak thing to do.

Where did you get zero ? I have experience and i call it like i see it. He could of proved it. He never did. That would of been the easiest way. Right ? If someone would of called BS on one of my runs. That's what i would done. But he didn't. :jackinbox:
