  1. I'm of the thought headers provide very minimal, if any gain, up to around 700HP. Getting rid of your cats will provide a 10-15HP gain up top though. My .02

+1 ON GETTING SOME NO CATS !!! HOWEVER, IF YOU ARE CONCERNED ABOUT NOT GETTING LOUDER, BUT GAIN 15-20 AT THE REAR WHEELS YOU CAN CONTACT LETHAL PERFORMANCE, AND GET THEIR BRAND 2.5 INCH X-PIPE WITH MAGNAFLOW HIGHFLOW SPUN CATS. THESE CATS FLOW EXTREMELY WELL, AND IS AS CLOSE TO HAVING A NO CAT X-PIPE WITH OUT THE LOUDNESS THAT IS NORMAL ON A NO CAT X-PIPE. MAKE SURE YOU GET LETHALS OWN BRAND AND NOT THE MAGNAFLOW X-PIPE. LETHALS PRODUCT IS STAINLESS, USES THE SAME HIGHFLOW MAGANFLOW CATS AT HALF THE PRICE. ADDITIONALLY, UNLESS YOU ARE GOING OVER 700 RWHP FORGET ABOUT SHORT OR LONG TUBE HEADERS ESPECIALLY IF YOU WANT TO KEEP THE EXHAUST DECIBELS DOWN SO YOU CAN HEAR YOUR WIFE OR THE NEXT HOUR AFTER YOU TAKE IT OUT FOR A DRIVE. :salute:

  2. Good point Cobra. I did manage to locate a deep socket at Pep Boys in Davie Florida. Mike the 21MM fits like a glove. Now off for a good torque wrench.

What setting for lbs to you guys use?

    Thanks again!

I would suggest that you try Aco Hardware they offer a very nice all steel torque wrench that is about $ 49.99 and does not have the cheap plastic on it, and mine has lasted 8 yrs without any calibration issues. I recently purchased one for a good friend of mine that got some new wheels and tires for his Jeep Wrangler. As far as the torque setting for Mustangs you would set your wrench to 99 FT. LBS. of torque and use a star pattern to tighten them down. I would then check your lugs nuts torque after you have driven 30 mile on your wheels and tires, and check them one additional time after you drive another 35-40 miles. Best of luck !!! :salute:

  3. 1/2 drive thin wall 21mm six point deep socket with an extension and a torque wrench

Never use a torque wrench to remove lugs nuts for it will damage the torque wrench by throwing off the calibration and you willl have to have your torque wrench re-calibrated. Use a regular socket wrench OR BREAKER BAR and follow MMcGuirk's instructions for they are correct. Torque wrenches should only be used for the tightening of nuts or in this case lugs nuts. :salute:

  8. Hi Doug,

Today is a very special day. After we go to Gods house, we are going to a very large Church picnic At Lewis-ville park. My family will be there to witness my 29 year old son Chris getting baptized in the Lewis river. His road to Drug and alcohol recovery started on 1-11-11 and he has not relapsed at all. I give all the glory to God for his recovery.

My son signed up to be baptized all on his own. He came to me a couple weeks ago and told me about it. Tana and I are so happy for him. Today's baptism has areal spiritual significance for my son chris. The immersion symbolizes Christ's death and burial -- the person dies to sin. Coming out of the water symbolizes Christ's Resurrection -- the person is "born again" and becomes "a new man in Christ." Chris has been going to "Gods house" with me for 7 months now every Sunday and between that and outpatient treatment and AA meetings, he is a new man. I would say he is born again.

    Enjoy your day all,

    Rob

Awesome news Rob !!! And may peace be with you and your family, especially Chris. My 21 year ols son had similar problems in the past and had to rethink where his life was going. Now he has graduated from Technical school and is making 55K. It is very tough these days to be a good parent with so much temptation around are children. B.O.L. and congrats on Chris's determination to make the right changes in his life. :happy feet:

  10. Hey,

Can someone please tell me why the 18" Alcoas on the KR's are exclusive to that car/owners.

This is the only wheel that is not available to all Shelby/Mustang owners and the fact that it is an 18" wheel that will fit over the GT500 brakes makes it a highly desireable wheel. Not only to GT500 owners but everyone with a Mustang/SGT that wants to upgrade to the GT500 brakes.

The 20" Super Snake Alcoas are available (without the SS on the wheel) and I don't think the SS owners are too upset about "their" wheel being made available to everyone. It doesn't make your car an SS just because you put a set of 20" Alcoas on it, just as putting on the 18's won't make it a KR. Not everyone wants to run 20" wheels. I am sure this would be a HUGE selling wheel, especially if a 10-11" rear wheel was offered.

Just a thought.... sign me up for the first batch!!

  11. Ran the Shelby for the first time at Empire Dragway-NY on Friday night. Had stock F1's, CAI, tune from Justin and that's about it. Made 5 passes

12.547,12.668,12.695, 12.599 and 12.698 at least it was consistent. Temp in the 80's and humid. Had to roll out at 1,200rpm and feather 1st and part of 2nd gear.

Next is a pulley a new tune and some good drag radials.

Here is a link to it.

VERY NICE RUN FOR YOUR 1ST TIME OUT AND THE DRAG RADIALS AND OTHER BOLT-ON WILL ONLY HELP MAKE THE CAR MORE ENJOYABLE AND CONSISTANT. THERE IS ALOT OF GREAT INFORMATION ON THIS SITE TO MAKE YOUR CAR RUN IN THE 10"S IF YOU CHOOSE TO. B.O.L

  12. This is the problem in America, every time there is a problem, either real or perceived, we start crying to a totally ineffectual Federal Government for a solution. If Ford has created a bad product the market place will dictate the correction. It makes me sick that we have become a nation of crybabies wanting "big brother" to get involved in our lives. The NHSTA has NO business addressing this issue. Let's layoff about half their employees instead. Sorry, but this type nonsense is why we, the US, are becoming a third world nation. regards, Larry
