  1. I removed mine with no problem. The only additive I know of is to the fluid for the posi track unit. I used Royal Purple fluid in the rear end of my car with no additional additive required. Shelby changed the complete rear ends in our cars. Someone mentioned in a previous article that they thought theirs had been missed at production. Nice starliner by the way. Harley
  2. Can the caster camber plates be used with the strut brace in place? I see Andrew has them on his SGT, but, others say the plates can't be aligned with the strut brace in place, so I am confused, Thanks for you help. Harley
  3. I am changing the gears in my 89 Ford f150 with a 8.8 rear to the 355s out of my GTH. I noticed that ford states that you use Loctite 638 on the back of the ring gear in their install instructions. This is hard to find here in Kentucky and much of it comes from England if you look on E-bay. Some of the install videos on the web say nothing about it. Does it really need to be used or are you using something different. Thanks for your input. Harley
  4. Are there any known numbered GTH automatic automobiles that have been converted to five speed sticks by the owners? Thus a 5 speed clone? Maybe I could do it to have a numbers match set of clones. Harley
  5. I also went with the Blisteins for my street use. At the time Tire rack had the best price. Harley
  6. Walmart has many good oils to use. They also carry the royal purple brand so its easy to get. Brenspeed uses it on all their race cars so that is proof enough for me. I only change mine once a year with the Ford racing filter, as I only drive about 3,000 miles on each of the GTH.'s I have never had past sludge problems with regular oil changes regardless which oil I used.
  7. There are many good choices out there. I use royal purple 5 W 20 in mine.
  8. At one time I had ''Stolen" in Kentucky. Harley
  9. For the Ford Racing lower control arm upgrade instructions. Go to the C J Pony parts web site under the 2005- 2009 parts section, and click on the GT 500 control arm upgrade. At the bottom of the listing, it gives instructions on the install process with photos. If you want to buy the parts they are cheaper on Buy Ford Racing .com as well as the GT 500 upper strut mounts My clunk came from a broken upper mount at 26,000 miles When removed from the strut it came apart in two pieces with bearings falling out. Tip. The steering rack bolt mounts call for a metric size. Don't look for a wench that size like I tried to do, and could not find, it is the same as a 13/16. The steering rack 2 bolts are the hardest part to remove, One can be reached on the drivers side from the rear of the frame. The passenger side from the front, by the radiator with a end wrench. Good luck trying to torque them. The drivers side can be torqued from the rear, but the passenger side does not have enough room unless you remove radiator parts for clearance in the front for the torque wrench. Mine is just wrench tight with lock tight on all bolts. I am sure there are other articles on this but, this one is quite good, I hope this helps to answer some questions. Good luck, and don't be afraid to do it yourself. I am 65, and I know you younger guys can crawl under there better than I. I plan on doing my 07 next so it can't be that bad, it just takes time. 10. Gene I also replaced my 06 GTH lower control arms with the GT500 units at 26,500 miles. The upper strut mount was broken on one side ( a clunking sound ) so both were upgraded to the 500 units as well. The new GT500 lower units do not have a grease fitting in the ball joint. Parts were about $400.00 from buy ford racing. I also went with the camber bolts to fix the alignment problem. The new strut bolts and nuts are now fine thread with a higher torque value. The bolts are not too badly priced, but the nuts are almost $10.00 each. Total upgrade about $475.00 with camber bolts if you do it yourself, plus the cost of a alignment. You better start selling more of the 40th decals, I love mine, it looks nice on the car, and I don't have to worry about it disappearing on it's own some time. The 07 will be the next one to get the control arms along with the Shelby caster camber plates. Harley
  11. If anyone is interested there is a video of a 110,000 mile Shelby Gt build up on the Brenspeed web site. With bolt on mods in three different stages showing the dyno results at each stage. It gives a good idea of what horsepower you may be getting with similar mods. It also shows a run at the drag strip. The second pass turned out much better than the first. I am not connected with them, but found it interesting. Harley

  13. I used mothers polish on mine and it came out much nicer. It would be worth a try. Harley
  14. Any one marking, or engraving the backside of their rims to help identify them if stolen? Glad he got them back. I was a parole officer, I know some about addiction , anything for the next fix, How sad. Guess I will have to put screws in some of my tires. LOL. Harley
