  1. Jim, Count us in for 2 cars and 5 people as usual! Can’t wait for what is always a great event!
  2. Anyone from NorCal (or further up I-5!) who wants to head down on Wednesday for the launch party at Hillbank is welcome to join us. We’ll be leaving from Santa Nella around 7:30-8am on wed morning. Let me know if you’re planning to join in the mini-conga line and we can solidify the plans. — Les
  3. Being from Pittsburgh originally (and having acquired my love for Shelbys at the Vintage Grand Prix) I may have to find a way to make it to this one!
  4. If anyone from up north is interested in attending the so cal launch party, we’re planning to head down on Wednesday morning.
  5. There’s a big difference between “can handle it when done by aftermarket shops” and being able to handle the torque under factory powertrain warranty liability. Just look at all the 07-12 GT500 tranny issues (which I’m sure Ford doesn’t want to repeat). Besides, I’ll take the control and speed of a DCT over a straight up 10 speed any day. The 10r80 will see plenty of use in the rest of Ford and GM’s vehicles.
  6. From what I heard in at least one interview the 10r80 couldn't handle the torque, particularly with any margin for inevitable upgrades, so they went with the DCT based on the one they've been using in the GT and GT4 mustangs instead. Personally, I think it's about damned time they got a DCT in a mustang. Best of both worlds for drag, track, and roads.
  7. Jim, The red rocket crew had somethimg come up and won’t be able to make it. April and I will still be there, though it’s going to be a game time decision on the snake depending on the weather. — Les
  8. Sheldon is +2 - April’s sister will be joining us again this year.
  9. How far is the event in Palm Desert from the hotel? (trying to plan contingencies in case traffic from the Bay Area's bad).
  10. That'd definitely be our luck... Just have to take it slow and careful if it is (and hope nobody's on stock goodyears!)
  11. 728 -- 614 coupes, 114 convertibles
  12. Perhaps they've changed it from when I was looking at them. It was definitely in the fine print about the device utilization at the time (this was several years ago now). I can guarantee if it's still a device that connects to the OBD port that they can track very thorough usage details of the car, however, whether they're utilizing that data or not (possibly without telling you) is another question..
  13. There'll be a group of us heading from NorCal (either Casa de Fruita or the windmill at Pea Soup Andersen's in Santa Nella) to Palm Springs on the 7th, then joining the run from Palm Springs to Vegas from there on the 8th. I believe there's also a group heading directly from the Bay Area to Vegas on the 8th.
  14. Since the shindig at Allen Grant's shop is starting at 3, we'll probably want to try to leave Santa Nella at 8 (8:30 at the latest) and maybe shorten the lunch stop slightly. Since you're the only one who's chimed in so far, Andy, is that ok with you?
  15. Any chance of making it 4-6 for those of us coming in from up north? We should hopefully be able to make 3, but with traffic crossing LA you never know.. If not, we’ll at least be trying to make it! (at least 2 cars and 5 people for us.. and most likely another car and 1-2 more people though I don’t want to speak for Andy)
  16. We'll be going I-5 -> I-210 -> I-10 and would be happy to have you join the line. We should hit I-210 somewhere around 1:30PM, exact timing will depend greatly on traffic and where you'd be meeting us, however.
  17. Metromile's great for any car you don't drive often, or fast. Good luck with your claim if you EVER speed in the car, though. That little device tracks driving behavior, too and they built a lot of loopholes for themselves into their fine print...
  18. For anyone planning to join us, please chime in so we can know who we're expecting. I'll add a list in the post with the directions for reference.
  19. For reference, here's the schedule we used last time we went to Palm Springs (in 2014), modified for the Marriott we're headed to this time (with the google maps projection for time in traffic around LA). We may need to adjust the times based on what's going on when we get there. Leaving Wednesday, March 7th for Palm Springs DEPART 101 at Bailey Ave just South of San Jose @ 5:45am sharp For those wanting to meet there, take the Bailey Rd exit off 101 and park on the on-ramp back onto 101 South. It's a huge on-ramp with plenty of room to queue up the Shelbys. This will put us at Casa de Fruita at approx. 6:30 for breakfast and fuel up DEPART Casa de Fruita @ 7:30am (fill your tanks at Chevron) to Pea Soup Andersen's You'll find us lined up in front of the restaurant, as some will eat breakfast there. We will take Hwy 152 east to Santa Nella for a short stop at Pea Soup Andersen's (look for the big WIndmill at the junction of I-5 & Hwy 33), where we will rendezvous with those coming from points north. DEPART Pea Soup Andersen's @ 8:00am for 76 @ Laval Rd. (189 miles, approx 2.5 hours) I-5 south to Laval Rd Service center, NOTE: The gas station used to be a Chevron and is now a 76 -- it is the one that shares a parking lot with In-N-OutThis stop will be ~45 minutes, so be sure, you've eaten, made your potty stop, and have your car fueled up.**If we are all ready to go ahead of schedule, we will depart earlier**DEPART Laval Rd @ 11:15am for JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa, 74-855 Country Club Dr, Palm Desert, CA 92260 (209 miles, approx 3 hours) I-5 south to I-210 east to I-10 east to Exit 134 to Cook St 1. Bookwyrm (santa nella) 2. Fat Boss (101 Bailey Ave) 3. Sheldon B (santa nella) 4. Marty 5. Phil 6. EDIT: adjusted times to be an hour earlier to make the event at Allen Grant’s shop. Depending on traffic, we may call an audible and head directly for the event instead of the hotel upon arriving in Palm Springs.
  20. We're in, as usual and will meet up in Santa Nella headed to Palm Springs! Is there any info on what/when the festivities in Palm Springs will be on Wednesday? It'd help to have a target time in mind to shoot for arrival..
  21. We're planning to drive down at the same time, Andy. I assume we'll at least have ~10 cars to collect along I5 as usual
  22. Loving mine, too! They really did a good job on this one.
  23. I believe Dave Goldberg is still finalizing a group rate for Palm Springs (he posted the other day in the Facebook group).
