  1. Honestly if you bought the car just as an investment you are not wise. You buy a car to enjoy it. Yes it can be a good investment for the distant future, but that is never the reason to buy a car. If you are looking for cars that will be worth tons of money you have to buy exclusive limited production cars. A ferrari Enzo, or the Lambo Reventon. You need to buy a car that there are only a handful made, and has a high demand. You also have to keep in mind that most of the mustangs out there are going to be driven year round and will eventually rust and be gone in 20 years. How many Iroc Z-28's do you see on the road these days? Or 77 Trans-Am's? Most are junked already. I would bet less than 10% of the total production is still on the road today. It is not like Corvette's, Viper's and Ford GT's where they are stored and only driven occasionally. 20 years from now the S197 Mustang won't be that common.
  2. Stock I would agree. The Shelby stock is terrible as it threads the needle trying to please too many people. The whole comfortable ride in a muscle car is what costs the GT500 points. My opinion comes from Vipers and Corvette's and the Shelby needs a serious suspension upgrade to fix the errors. I mean wheel hop???? REALLY???? Once you upgrade the suspension their is no comparrison. The Shelby is a much better performance car than a Caddy. Granted it ain't there with the Vipers, Vette's and Porsche's but it can still compete
  3. It all depends are you talking about the best suspension or best bang for the buck. Without a doubt Griggs is the top of the food chain. Even the entry level Griggs suspension is greater than the top of the line from Steeda or BMR. Let's put it this way, Steeda and BMR etc improve the parts that were engineered for the mustang. Griggs reengineers the suspension to where is should of been. I researched it and decided on Griggs. Let's just say my Griggs make my GT500 handle much more like my Viper.
  4. I really love the Alcoa style, not sure if I would go with 18" or 20". Lot of people thought the 18" didn't look well. But more importantly can we get a 10.5" or 11" width for the rears???
  5. I got the Griggs Rear SS rear and front suspension. I went with a BMR K member and "A" arms up front. I have Kooks long tube headers so I couldn't utilize the Griggs Cradle. Definately fixed the wheel hop issue and it is a whole lot stiffer than the stock suspension. Almost no body roll on tight turns. I haven't tracked it yet but it feels a whole lot more like my Viper GTS now. Definately a major improvement.

  7. I am glad I bought an 08. The rear end looks like a Camero. What was Ford thinking. They copied that from the Camero! Sorry to the 10 owners but it looks like J-lo's butt!
  8. Well I happen to own a Viper and a GT500 and I can attest that Vipers are a bit trickier to launch than just about any other car. It also depends on the year. GTS or SRT. Most Vipers have K&N intake and some type of exhaust mod. Simply put stock they are strangled both with the intake and the exhaust, except for the 2008+ where they opened them up a bit more. Running 11's with a stock Viper 2008 is easy. 2003 to 2006 stock will run high 11's. GTS bone stock will run a 12 flat. Vipers suffer greatly from Traction issue's much more than just about any other car. From looking at your sig, you have the car setup quite a bit for drag racing. I would expect a GT500 with that setup to beat a stock Viper. Now a TT Viper or even a supercharged Viper would be more like comparing apples to apples.
  9. I am trying to decide on what suspension to upgrade to for my 2008 GT500. My applications is 70% Street, 20% Drag Strip and 10% Road Racing/Autocross. In other words I want to be able to have it streetable with occasional Drag strip use. Once in a while I might take it to a road track as well so it has to have some ajustablity as well. I just purchased a whole bunch of goodies from Evolution, a K member to lower the engine .5 inches, Kooks Headers, C&L intake combo with 2.6 pully and a Heat Exchanger upgrade. I plan to go to a Kenn Bell 2.8 Super Charger in the near future (hence why I bought the lowering K member). Now the question that I need advice with is which suspension to go with. Evolution has there Ultimate Lowering Suspension which I could couple with the QA1 Struts and shocks that would solve the wheel hop and accomplish my goal. There is also the entry level Griggs setup as well. Looking at the GR40SS. Only problem with the Griggs is I already bought a K member and Griggs is rediculously expensive. Don't get me wrong I love the Shelby but I am wanting to buy a Ford GT in a few years so I don't want to spend 15k on a Griggs suspension when I will eventually be buying a supercar. Besides cost what advantage's does the Griggs GR40SS have over Evolution's Ultimate lowering suspension? I have heard good things about both but I want to not make a mistake on what I purchase. I also plan to upgrade the Axle to fit wider tire's without protusion outside of the fenders.
  10. Yep for the exact same reason they will not get my money. Vista Blue and Black just is not a good match. If they had allowed a white stripe they might have gotten my buisness. I also don't like the lack of flexibility. I like my Magnaflow exhaust.
  11. There are always two sides to every debate. Truth is the UAW worker has it way better than any of the foreign car employers. There benefits and pay are higher and their retirement is top notch. While this is great for the UAW worker is tends to make it difficult to compete against the competition. Simply put unions are great for making a safe work environment and giving the worker a voice that has support. However, Unions kill industry. What happened to the Steel Industry in the US? The Unions killed it. Guys making $60 an hour (for unskilled labor) is rediculous. Not to mention benefits on top of that. Granted it is better for them to make an outrageous wage then to be burden on the tax payers. As for buying Toyota or some other foreign car, not in my household. It would be slapping the patients that work at Ford and Gm in the face if I did. Every car I have ever owned was made by the big 3. Yet I feel the unions have dug their own hole. I think the golden age of working in the auto plants is over. I think you are going to see the unions get very weak and the pay to go down to the $15 to $25 dollar per hour range.
  12. About those Blank checks from Capital One. What Sheblydud said is not entirely correct. There are actually two version of the "Blank Check". One is for buying a car through a dealer, the second is for buying through a private owner. When I bought my Viper in 2007 from a private owner, I did not need anything other than put his name on the check. They ran my credit rating before they issued me the check. Granted I was putting $60,000 down on the car and only borrowing $28,000.
  13. Value of a car really comes down to one thing and one thing only! Demand! I don't care if you have a Superbird that you bought for $200,000 in mint condition last year. 20 years from now, if people's concept of what is valued goes down your Superbird could be worthless. A car is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it. What will be worth big bucks in the future??? Who knows, but rarity tends to affect demand. If there are 30,000 cars they will be worth more than 300,000 cars. Just by exclusiveness.
  14. I agree it looks better with stripes, but Vinyl is just lame for a 45,000 dollar car. Vinyl is great for a short term rice mobile that you paint and put stickers on every 4 or 5 years. The Shelby should of had painted stripes. I got mine without stripes and once I get all the performance mod's done I will get the stripes painted on.
