  2. Hey guys, let me introduce myself. My name is Matthias (or just Matt to keep it simple) and i was originally born and raised in Germany. I just moved to the beautiful upstate of South Carolina about 1 1/2 Years ago due to a Job Oppurtinity my Company offered me to lead the Expansion of our Company to the North American Market. I am currently working as a Plant Manager for a Automotive Supplier focused on High Temperature Solutions for Exhaust Components. Mainly producing Parts for BMW´s X3 and X5 since their biggest Plant is here in Spartanburg,SC. New Customers like GM, Caterpillar and Chrysler already signed Contracts with us as well. However, even though i am German and should like BMW, Audi etc. (at least thats what everybody is saying but i couldnt care less) i ALWAYS had a soft spot for American Muscle Cars. I had a 94 Mustang GT with the good ´ol 5.0 V8 in prestine Showroom floor Condition and 20k miles on it back in Germany so i am not new to the Mustang world, but pretty new to the Shelby world. I just purchased a Bone Stock 2010 Shelby GT500 for $35K with exactly 20k Miles on it a little bit more than a month ago and enjoy every second with it !! I bought it from a Dealer in Vermont since it was such a great Deal and suffered the longest 1 1/2 Weeks in my Life waiting on my dream Car getting delivered while it was crossing around 1,000 Miles on a Trailer. Long Story short, the first time i cranked her up it was worth every penny and the pain of waiting. I never drove such a brutal Car before and even the wife loves it and buys me Parts .....gotta love that !! I know you guys like pictures so see below and tell me what you think..... Thanks !

  4. FOUND Hi, I'm new to the forum, but I'm searching for a 2005-2009 or 2010-2012 takeoff GT500 blower, elbow, throttle body, and CAI. TB and CAI is preferred but not required. Anyone have these items that they are trying to sell? Thanks!
  5. This past summer, my car was used to build a prototype shorty header from ARH. The shorty's are made of stainless steel. The headers were designed to bolt up to the stock exhaust, I have a 2008 GT500KR. Shortly after they were done, I got a P0430 code, which is the second bank Cat is inefficient. With only 7k on the engine, I have a hard time believing that the Cat is bad. I switched the 02 sensor from the right side to the left and after driving it for about 15 miles, the same code came up, so it's not a 02 sensor problem. Could it be a timing issue on how quick the 02 sensor is heating up? Any ideas?
  6. When I bought my convertible I knew I wanted to do something different with it. Almost immediately after I got it I went ahead and contacted Smoothline Custom Hardtops to have one made. From the beginning I knew this was not going to be an easy task. Unfortunately it ended up being a nightmare task for us from the beginning to end. The top was originally ordered June 2013. We actually ordered two of them since we were going to sell one to a customer as well. In August, the first top arrived at our body shop and when it was opened it was cracked. This was unfortunate but we could not do anything about it. Our customer ended up canceling the order and it was understandable. When the replacement (second top) arrived in September, at our body shop it looked good until we examined it closer and it was also cracked. Jack at Smoothline ensured us that this has never happened before and because they decided to use a new shipper they were to blame. At this time I was already ticked off. Having originally ordered the top nearly 4 months ago I called Jack and told him we were going to drive up to PA from VA to get the top for safe measure so it does not get damaged in transit. In addition to this, I asked if we could bring my car down there so they could fit the top properly since after all they designed it and would be most suited to do this. Well October 8th rolled around and we trailered my convertible up to PA to get the top fitted to it. We told Smoothline what time we would be arriving so they could expect us. When we arrived the guy we needed to fit the car was not there. They told us they couldn’t touch the car to fit the top. I was pissed considering I just towed this car 3 + hours for shits and giggles. Again… what was I going to do? Ended up loading the box in the trailer and we went on our way. Got the top back to the store and when we opened it, we realized it would have to modified to fit around my the CDC light bar. No problem, except when I called Jack it took about a week for him to find the template, and when I finally got the template it was so far off from where the bar needed to be cut out of the fiberglass. This was the nightmare I went through before the top even made contact with this car, lol. Finally I dropped my car off at the body shop around Christmas and they got started with it. Instantaneously we knew it needed a ton of work… more like an astronomical amount of work. The fiberglass was primed like it was ready to be painted but was no where near ready. The primer was not of quality and there were a ton of imperfections. Not to mention, the fitment of the top was not even close to the car. If you were to push the front of the top down over the windshield frame, the rear of the top would not clear the convertible top. The first time I saw this, I was livid. Again the nightmare of this project continued. You can see there is a noticeable lift in the front of the top where it meets the windshield frame. The back of the top is sitting up way to high since it is not long enough to clear the convertible top. Top clears the CDC light bar properly after the fiberglass was cut. The template was useless and they did it using steady calculation. You can see how the rear corner of the top is somewhat high, this is because this top was designed on a 05-09 S197 where the rear quarter panel is level across. On the 10-14 they are slanted downward. You can see how the convertible top is still intact and just in the lowered position. A short list of the things the top needed *Incision made in the fiberglass to get more length out of it to fit properly *Reinforcement bracket was made after the incision *1/4 windows holes were absolutely screwed up and windows did not even fit in the cubbies *Anchoring points for the front of the top to latch down on the windshield frame were not lining up properly and they had to be moved. * +Much more that I’m forgetting A came by a couple weeks later and they started cutting the top to add fiberglass and adjust the angle of the front to fit properly. After about a month of work (it was a low priority project since I am in no hurry) the top fitment was much better but more work was needed. Rear is sitting much better, and even the corner gap was minimized. Front sits perfectly snug now.

  12. Hi, I'm new to the Shelby world. Recently aquired this 2014 GT500(mfg 6/2013) I have been a proud owner of this 2008 GT. What an amazing vehicle the Shelby is. Sorry about the taking picture into the sun. Did create an interesting reflection of the snake in the door panel though. Maybe new to Shelby but not new to Mustang
  13. Hi all, I just want to introduce myself to the forum. My name is Manfred, I'm German, 52 years old, mechanical engineer and I do own two GT500. The first one is a 2008 model, coupé in Alloy Grey. This car is since July 2008 my daily driver from April till October. The second one is a 2011 SS coupé in Kona Blue that I use for special events or longer trips/holydays with my wife in Europe. Looking forward to become part of your community. Manfred

  15. Hi guys, this is my first post. I thought I would share some recent photos of a beautiful 1969 Shelby GT500 that I shot. I love this car.
  16. I know there are a handful of threads of different track setups for any years that have the 20" rear wheels. I have a 2012 with the SVTPP and tossed around the relocation of the rear sway bar to fit 15's or squeezing in Nitto 305s, M/T's or other drag radial. I haven't seen much on the setup I finally chose, so I wanted to throw out what I found. I went with the Hoosier 28x10-17 slicks ($220 from Summit - link below) mounted on some 17x9 replica wheels from American Muscle ($110/each - link and specs below). The 28" Hoosiers are only slightly smaller than the stock tires when inflated. Theoretically, the diameter difference should be 0.1", although I did find it to be slightly more exaggerated in real life. The Hoosiers were at 15 psi, and I saw about 1/4" difference from the stock Goodyear ties at 35 psi.. I obviously I not concerned about the speedo difference for a track setup, and I never had any difficulty with the traction system registering problems. There is very little overhang, as you can see here: The clearance from the shocks and everything else in the wheel well is also more than acceptable. As far as performance, I unfortunately only got two runs in this week. Both were disappointing, and I still have a lot to learn about launching this car with the slicks. I can say, though, that traction was perfect without a single slip at any point. Now, I just need to figure out the best launch RPM and amount of feathering/clutch dropping. Any experience from others here would really be appreciated! Best run: 2.01 60': 12.4 @ 116 Wheels: 17 x 9 with a +30 mm offset (6.18" backspace) http://www.summitracing.com/parts/hoo-18157/overview/ http://www.americanmuscle.com/chrome-10th-17x9-0512.html Some other pics of the setup: Thanks for looking! I have really gotten a lot out of other's posts on this site and and happy to finally have something to add myself!
  17. Recently purchased 2007 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 with problematic Tremec TR-6060 Transmission Problems: Not shifting into any gear at RPMs above 4000 and will not come out of 1st and 2nd gear above 4000 RPMs. Guessing on Issues: ??? 1. * Synchronizers and/or Blocking Ring (The early ones (07-08) had issues with gear clash. The fix was to replace the synchronizers and in some cases, the clutch, pressure plate and flywheel) 2. ** A mechanic pulled one apart and swapped out brass blocking rings(?) for carbon fiber - apparently solving the notchiness problem Alfie on another forum suggested that I might have a clutch issue? Replacements by Previous Owner???: 3 year ago Centerforce Single Disk Clutch, Pressure Plate, Flywheel, throw-out bearing, and pilot bearing. Please help, does anyone know how to fix this issue or has had this issue? Thank you!!!

Went to another car show in Danville called Ponies & Snakes. Our 2011 Shelby is in the way back, you can't see it in this pic. There was about 300 cars all the way from basic mustangs to high end cobras. I thought the name was great, so I bought a bright red cap.
