AIR FORCE THUNDERBIRDS & NAVY BLUE ANGELS FLYOVER INFO

Recommended Posts

Blue Angels/Thunderbird Flyover

It’s been in the media that the Navy’s Blue Angels and the Air Force's Thunderbirds will be doing flyovers in major cities throughout the nation to recognize and honor essential workers and other people working on the front lines helping our nation fight the Covid 19 Pandemic.

The Blue angels will be doing a 30 to 35 minute fly over show in the Fort Worth Area on Wednesday May 6 at 11:00 a.m. No flight path yet, but if you live within 15 or so miles of the Dallas Fort Worth Area you will be able to see some if not all of the show.

Some of these shows don’t show on the Thunderbird/Blue Angel regular schedules and you have to keep an eye on local or national news to hear about them, some are announced on the Blue Angels/Thunderbird websites.

Here are the links to the Thunderbirds and Blue Angels if you want to find out more about when they will be in your area.

f2redpot, Thanks for posting the route for the Fort Worth show, I couldn't find anything on it when I posted earlier. Looks like I am going to have a pretty good view of the show right from my house. Enjoy the show.

We were treated to fly-over to celebrate local front line workers by 2 x B-52's from Barksdale AFB in Shreveport and a pair of F-15s from the Belle Chase Joint Reserve Base (the Coon Ass Militia as it is known). Quite impressive and very appreciated by all of the health care workers and first responders is was meant for.

Next time I'm in Vegas I have to find someone to get me into the Thunderbirds museum.  It's too bad just being a USAF veteran isn't good enough.

The Thunderbird Museum is open to the general public with no need for base access or escort once per year during the National Airshow at Nellis. Also you can submit a Tour Group request 30 days in advance but I think you have to be part of a 10 person minimum group.

I thought they were to Fly over Tallahassee today but our Local News Stations really suck in letting us know of any special Events until AFTER it happens.

Multiple articles about their schedules are posted in several Tallahassee papers and TV online. Most flight paths are announced approximately 48 hours in advance due to operational readiness and security. It is that way in just about every city planned. The T Birds and the Blue Angels don’t just decide to show up without some advance notice. Air space has to be cleared and/or coordinated for several miles around the flight paths and emergency crews are put on stand by in case of a catastrophe. It is why I also posted in my original post above the direct online links to both the Thunderbirds and the Blue Angels websites. It mentions that they will provide flight paths and cities as they become known. They also mention that you can follow them on Twitter as well

That would require a lot of planning to be out there for the airshow, but if I decide just to go to Vegas for a getaway, instead of going there for conventions, I'll have to keep that in mind.  I was in Vegas for 3 months during med school, but it was after 9/11 so it was on lockdown.  But the hospital I was at was near Nellis, so I could sit outside waiting for the bus and watch F16s and others coming in.  I was hoping the lockdown would've ended at some point since, but I guess not.

Just caught the Blue Angles during their flyover. It is not so much an airshow, pretty much a set of 5 planes flying in formation, they did a loop around downtown Dallas and a loop around downtown Forth Worth and then gone. If anybody plans to see them you best download a flight path so you know where they are coming in at and then plan accordingly.

In regard to lockdown, yeah 911 changed a lot of security measures at bases and other government facilities and it is for the better.

If you want to kill two birds with one stone you can drive over to the Las Vegas Speedway and tour that and then from the parking lot at the speedway you can get a pretty good view of quite a few planes taking off and landing at Nellis.

I posted what popped up in my news feed at the time I posted the above Indianapolis and Detroit flight paths. Chicago may have been posted at a later time. Besides, I posted info links to both the Blue Angels and Thunderbird websites in my original post when I started the topic and also mentioned that the flight schedules will be posted on their sites as they become known and that you can go to those sites for latest updates. Last time I checked, Its not my job to provide you constant minute by minute updates........:salute:

Figured you were going for completeness.  I heard about all three at the same time, so kinda weird that your feed didn't include Chicago.  Minute by minute updates not needed, just day to day.  I figure you can handle that.

nah, too busy with wrapping up some renovations on my home. I provided all the necessary info already. If people are interested in seeing either of them,  then they know where to click. Its all good. Stay safe. I'm surprised the dictator of IL didn't ban the flyover in Chicago in order to keep people inside.

I'm sure Herr Pritzker wanted the publicity for Chicago of the flyover.  He'll admonish people later about social distancing.
