You know how when you’re feeling pretty good about what you have and what you’ve tried so hard to achieve, (in this case, with diecasts).......there’s ALWAYS somebody better and more bada$$ than you!

Slow Lane is right too buddy...your pics are outstanding as well!

Beautiful collection of some amazing diecast.

Interesting that you brought out the '69 ERTL sportsroof. I dusted off some of my ERTL '69 Shelby convertibles.

Also, a few pictures of another GT500 Super Snake 427 edition, this time from the Shelby Heart Fund edition.

I have a tough time deciding which are my favorite Shelbys...but the 1968-1969 GT500 convertibles (especially the KR) are definitely at the top of the list.  And Ertl made a lot of them.  I am, however, pretty sure my favorite color is Acapulco Blue...though there are so many good ones to choose from.  I’ll post pictures of the other Ertl 1969 convertible diecasts besides what you just posted in a bit. This particular one I had signed by The Man back in the mid 90s...the rear decklid on these pieces provides a perfectly flat canvas.

Love your Super Snake with the signature!  The tampo on the rear quarter panel and then the real sig on the roof is neat.  Mach 1, that’s the same car as yours without the Shelby Heart Fund symbol above the emblem.  Mine is just the plain jane Super Snake...but really, ARE there ANY plain jane Shelby Super Snakes?...I suppose not.

Hey Chris, your right that blue 69 is pretty cool, it kind of reminds me of your "Gurney"!  I don't think any of our guys collections can compete with the Mustangcollector's cars, ("He's the Man")!   Like you said in the past, someone is always bigger and badder!!!!   ;)

So we'll sit back and enjoy everyone's very cool collections!!  :camera:

Here is a Welly Boss 302 Coca Cola car 1:18 scale very recent release. I collect a lot of old Coca Cola  and this was cool. I raised the front end a tad it was sitting pretty low. All Welly’s boss mustangs seem to sit very low in the front.

I saw that Welly “re-released” the Allan Moffat Coca Cola Boss 302 recently.  I was curious if anyone knows the story behind these cars.  I bought mine in Australia literally 15 years ago and I haven’t seen it in the U.S. until now.  I always thought it was because of licensing issues with Coca Cola.  The car I have is exactly like yours EXCEPT for the Ford “Blue Oval” and the “Motorcraft” sticker on the doors, engine, everything.  What made Ford jump into the licensing behind this car NOW to put those extra stickers on it years later?

Check out both yours and mine...

EDIT: Now that I look again the wheels on mine are slightly different...or are they?  Also just noticed that yours has hood twist lock decals, and mine does not.

Didn’t realize this almost exact livery was around before. It looks like they moved the Goodyear sticker back and installed the Ford oval. There are a few Different welly boss 302’s out there. I’ve seen pictures of the Coca Cola race car before. I have a 1970 Welly Boss 302 # 57 also. I’ll post more of it tomorrow.

Back to the 69 boss driven by Allan Moffat ( Canadian born) . Pictures of the real deal race car below. From what I’ve read this was a gift from Ford Motor Co to Allan Moffat . Bud Moore had his hands on this one . It was shipped to Australia where Moffat raced it. He won a ton of races down under with the BOSS ! It was every bit as poplar there as back in the states.

Mike, if those headlamp bulbs were scaled more correctly, that car would look real in those pics. To include the interior shot!

Nice!

I think these are the last of the 1969 Shelby GT500 convertibles...if any one has one that hasn’t been posted, it would be great to see it.

And how about we finish off the body style with some of the rarer 1969 GT350 convertibles?  I particularly like the American flag on the back window of the black one!

Looks great.

Funny you should post up the Moffatt Boss 302 from back in the day. I have the same, more common non-Coke logoed version.

The GT500 KR is a Spencers (yes, THAT Spencers) variation.

Actually they are the rarer '70 cars. At least two of them are. The '69s should not have a front spoiler. The hood stripes and front spoiler were the only two things that differentiate the two years, other than the updated VIN plates.

Thanks for the clarification!  I should have known but was in the moment of all the 1969 model year postings and had the body style on the brain.  Did Ertl make any other colors of the GT350s?

I think we covered them all. They did not do a Grabber Orange, Black Jade or a Pastel Grey diecast as far as I know. The black with white stripe was never a production option, although the prototype was this combination. The black with red never happened in real life as well.

I’m 57 years old. The ‘69-‘70 Mustangs are the sexiest cars ever made IMHO. Those ‘69-‘70 Shelby cars are the cream of the crop....again, IMHO.

I’m really enjoying your posts Mustangcollector.  I’ve posted a couple ‘69-‘70 500 cars (earlier in this thread) that I own. I have nothing compared to you buddy.

Gina and I are moving into our retirement home in January 2019. It’s currently being built. I cannot wait to dig out all my diecasts from their boxes and re-display them. Still trying to determine how best to do so this time around. Not sure I want them in the garage, as in Az. everything in the garage gets dusty as H**L. Maybe a den room is better suited this time? We’ll see.....

I love this thread. :)

This boss 302 was very popular down under . I read that Moffat won 101 races out of 150 over 6 years running this boss .The engine had 485 hp and 8 Weber carbs. It had over 100 different liveries over those years . Look it up on google and you will find some great stories about this car and the driver . The car now is in a collection of 70 race cars in Australia...where else .
