Shelby CS6 / GT-H "Hertz" Hoods Back In Stock at an INCREDIBLE PRICE!

Does anyone know if this hood will fit with a Whipple 550 package installed?

I would say no as it even rubs on the Paxton and I couldn't even use my strut tower brace.

The shipping was more than the hood as well! I wonder if this is a "clearing out of old stock" or if it is back in production.

Our techs here claim it clears the 550. I'd recommend a trial fit before final prep. If it needs a "notch", it's easy to do then. Jer

Clearing out stock. If I scheduled a production run of these hoods and sold them for $199, I'd be selling oranges on a highway offramp the next day. Jer

Mine fits with some little rubbing on the intake tube (there is a fix for that) and had to notch out an area for the pulley.

I also have to say that SAI did notch the GT-H hood for the whipple install on the GT-H that they have done. No rubbing on my Paxton and the strut brace was not an issue. Edited by H0050

I wish I had a hood like this on my 08 GT/SC has these cars put off a lot of underhood heat but I really like the 65 GT350 hood scoop. Think its possible to mount the hood scoop on this CS6 hood?

The CS6/GT-H hood does not have any functional air vents. If you want the air vents, you would need to get the deep draw hood. I suppose you could modify this hood to make the vents functional. hmmmmmm....... Maybe I need a second hood.......

Jeff, if you were to buy one, I would get the deep draw. Save the HERTZ hood. From five feet way you would not even know the difference and the average person will not. Really helps with the trapped heat issue. I would say non existent and no issues with Paxton rubbing etc. I am happy I bought the deep draw. That said, the GT-H hood price is killer.

WooHoo! Hood arrived today!

 

The box was a mess and I was concerned that the hood would be too, but it appears to be OK. (Note to Jer and SPP: You need to beef up the packing, particularly the corners, the styrofoam corners were split and this allowed one corner of the hood to penetrate the box and be exposed. I would suggest a cardboard spacer to soften the corner of the hood and keep it from cutting into the styrofoam, and a wrap or two of bubble wrap around the entire hood. Might save some grief for someone!)

 

I didn't receive the windshield washer relocate kit yet, unless it's buried somewhere in the hood box - I'll check when I get home.

 

To anyone with a GTH or with a GT that has this Hertz hood installed: I'd like to get some good, up close pics of the hood installation to pass along to my body shop! Like to see the hinge attachment, hood pins, etc., so if you can, post them up here!

Update: Unpacked the hood and found it to be in good shape. The gel coat on the corners at the hinge ends were chipped, but can be repaired. Minor scuffing on the upper surface of the hood from rubbing on the box sides, again, easily repaired. Overall this is a very nice piece - Just looking at it, I'd say it's very well made and its dimensions are pretty close to spot on factory. Found the washer relocate kit buried in the box along with the fake grill. The grill could be made functional - either by cutting out slots and fitting a custom grill or drilling out the two-hundred or more holes in the fake grill!

 

I'll see how long I can resist, but I'm leaving it non-functional for now!

That is what I meant the deep draw hood... would it look stupid if put the scoop from the Shelby GT's on it?

IMHO, I would not put the SGT scoop on this hood, it would spoil the lines and yes, as you said, look silly!

 

I would consider making the hood functional and possibly including two GT500 hood vents/outlets to increase ventilation and they fit more or less flush with the surface of the hood.

deciding whether to get one or not; stylish and irrisistible; however the shipping cost is quite a lot, considering the hood itself is only $200.

 

really hope shelby can arrange much economical way for shipping. could cross border to pick in North Dakota from Canada, shipping to ND is about freaking $350...damn it
