He wanted to create a club for people to truly enjoy their cars. He knew the world had changed, and he wanted his companies to meet the needs of the new generation of Shelby owners. His vision was to knit together those people with the owners of early Shelby's and give everyone fun new ways to experience their high performance vehicles.   Mr. Shelby imagined a place where owners could talk about their latest conquests at the track, swap stories, share photos and learn new ways to hot rod their cars! He wanted to link all of the enthusiasts into one "dream garage"... thus, Team Shelby was born!   Team Shelby has many free, open access forums, news sections and member only areas dedicated to the community.   In addition, Team Shelby has a full series of events for 2018, which include VIP Experiences, track days, National & Regional gatherings, cruises, car shows and more! Ownership of a Shelby is not required to be a member. The club is dedicated to serving all Shelby enthusiasts past and present including those that own cars built in the 1960's and Shelby Dodges too! Convertible Top Fading?

Recommended Posts

Anyone else have trouble w convertible top fading? It's a 2012. Talked to a detail guy who thought it was dried up soap and advised pressure washing it. This did not phase it however. Not sure if it's fading or something else and if I need to have it dyed it try something else. The detail guy thought it was too soon for a 12 to start fading. Trying to attach photos but it tells me they're too big. Will keep trying. Thanks very much in advance!!

I have a 2014 Pony Package convertible also that sits in the driveway and have started using this: http://www.autopia-carcare.com/303-vinyl-top-kit.html#.VRsDyXmJiM8

I get it at an RV place near me and it seems to give it back that shiny look to the black top and the water beads up on it pretty good so it must be repelling it.

The MSRP sticker on mine calls it "black vinyl convertible roof". To me it looks like more like a canvas/cloth top but Ford calls it vinyl. Yours may be the same I'm sure. The 303 product seems to work well. I'm told it's what they use on RV's retractable sunshades also. Attached are two pictures I took a few minutes ago. I washed the car yesterday and used the 303 product on the roof.

My sticker just says soft top. Owners manual doesn't specify- just says it could be either vinyl or cloth. Finally found something online that says the gt premium packages are cloth...

Thanks!! Canvas, it is! Wonder which kit is best between raggtopp and the 303? Hope it improves these spots. I guess if it doesn't it will tell me that it's actual fading and needs to be dyed?

Also found something online that said all that's needed is warm water and a soft brush? May try that first before spending money on a kit. Won't hurt to try I suppose.

I actually ordered the Ragtop kit first and tried it on mine. I already had the 303 product to use on the black plastic parts on my Shelby GT-500 and tried it next. Not sure about the longevity of the product lasting on the roof but I liked the 303 on mine better. It gave a brighter shine and was easier to use. I sprayed it on and used a soft sponge to spread it. Of course my is "vinyl" (LOL). Good luck. :)

from the pictures it looks like the top was put down when it was wet, I had a that happen to a BMW vert.

I usually use a vacuum and a brush to clean the top and then use water after. Also if you have stubborn small hair or small pieces of weed or thistles you can use a tape / lint brush that you use on your coats, this also works well. But for the faded areas that looks like it was closed or folded while wet, then Raggtopp is the solution,
