In market for 2013 or 2014 GT500 which is better?? or what are differences?

Recommended Posts

I am ready to trade my 2008 Vapor GT500 for a 2013 or 2014 GT500.

I would like to know if there are many differences between them mechanically.

Thought that I heard that the clutch is better in the 2014?

What about recalls or service problems. Don't want to go thru another clutch problem like the one on my 2008.

Any help or advice is appreciated!! Thanks!!

I heard 2013s are better. :poke:

Seriously, OP, Bill is spot-on. Differences between 2013 and 2014 are VERY minor. IIRC, they include:

- "SVT 20th Anniversary" sill plates in 2013 vs plain "SVT" sill plates in 2014

- A couple of color changes (i.e., Performance White and Red Candy Metallic in 2013 vs Oxford White and Ruby Red Metallic in 2014)

- Early 2013 Launch Control offers and RPM range of 2500-5200 vs later 2013 and 2014 Launch Control offers and RPM range of only 3000-4500

- 2013 trip computer boots with the running Mustang image vs 2014 boots with a coiled Cobra image (Thanks for keeping me honest, Snoopy!)

- According to Ford Performance there were 4885 (4077 Coupes and 808 Verts) GT500s produced in the 2013 MY vs 5730 (4816 Coupes and 914 Verts) GT500s produced in the 2014 MY

Heated seats standard in the 2014 without Recaros, available as an option in 2013 non Performance Pack cars.

The snake between the gauges was a 2014 only thing, I believe it showed up in 2014s made after Mar or April of 2013.

I think they went with a quieter starter for 2014. All other things above is correct

I have never read anything about a factory clutch upgrade for the 2014's, do you have a link to that information?

While not a mechanical item, collectors seem to prefer the first & last years of production. But with fewer built for the 2013 model year compared to the 2014 model year, its an even match in my mind.

I'm confident you'll enjoy either year car.
