Odd bang under dash...

Recommended Posts

Is there anyone out there that has experienced a banging or tapping noise just under the center of the dashboard (above the vent panel with the 12v plug) that happens after starting the car for 6-8 times?  I hear it often when I start my car after it has been sitting for a while.  It is a consistent 6-8 taps.

Anyone know what I mean???

Does anyone know of there is a way to remove that panel and look inside???

Thanks

Yes, yes and yes. It's the vent blend motor:

The 6-disc CD player most likely......

Happens after the battery has been disconnected - OR - after she sits for long periods. :salute:

Yep, it’s that blend door motor Secondo referred to.  I have the exact same problem in my Ford Expedition...except I get 11-13 clicks for a little extra frustrating noise!  ?

I also get that clicking after it sits for a couple weeks, it sounds like the CD changer, this is my 3rd S195 mustang and they all did that.

All my S197’s do it. Doesn’t necessarily mean the CD player is going bad......however, when it does shyt the bed....the clicking WILL NOT go away. Been there too... ;)

Edit- While it’s making the clicking, look at the #’s on the player...if it is in fact this, the unit will rotary through the #’s.

Edit- It will make 6 clicks, for all six cd spots
